How to reset parking brake light?

Most vehicles are equipped with an electronic parking brake system that includes an indicator light. When the parking brake is engaged, the indicator light will be illuminated. Over time this light can reset itself, but it is best to manually reset it. To reset then parking brake light, follow these steps:

1. Switch off your vehicle’s engine and set the parking brake.

2. Access the electronic control unit (ECU) by consulting your owner's manual or calling a local mechanic.

3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for at least 10 minutes. This will allow the ECU to reset.

4. Reconnect the negative battery terminal to the vehicle.

5. Start the engine and release the parking brake.

6. Check the dash to make sure the parking brake light is no longer illuminated.
