Why do people pass out on rides?

People pass out on rides for a variety of reasons. High intensity rides can create an extreme environment for people who are not used to it - for example, sudden changes in speed, elevation, direction and gravity can all take an effect on the body's balance. This can cause intense feelings of nausea and dizziness, leading to a sense of disorientation and a loss of consciousness. Other possible causes may include low iron or anemia, low blood pressure, or general anxiety and fear of the ride itself. People with heart and respiratory problems, diabetes, epilepsy, chronic dizziness or migraine headaches are also more likely to pass out on a ride.
