Sports that use a board

Popular board sports include:

• Skateboarding: Skaters balance on a board with wheels and maneuver around natural and man-made obstacles. From flat ground tricks, to half pipes and rails, skateboarding is an incredibly popular sport and the basis of a large part of the action sports industry.

• Snowboarding: Snowboarding is another popular board sport, based on skiing and surfing. Using a single board to navigate down a snow covered hill or mountain, riders carve down the slopes or do tricks off jumps and rails.

• Longboarding: Longboarding is a form of skateboarding that typically involves cruising at higher speeds or carving down hills. Long boards are usually longer than a traditional skateboard, offering a more stable ride and better turning radius.

• Wakeboarding: Wakeboarding involves riding a board while being pulled by a boat or cable system. Riders jump and do tricks off natural and manmade obstacles, and take part in both recreational riding and competitive tournaments.

• Kitesurfing: Kitesurfing, or kiteboarding, is a relatively new extreme sport in which riders uses a board with a kite to surf the waves. It blends elements from wakeboarding, windsurfing, and surfing, and is both recreational and competitive.
